BRISTOL, Tenn. – As the fall of 2026 approaches, anticipation is mounting around King University's women's volleyball program. The Tornado are preparing for a campaign defined by early-season road challenges, a marquee home invitational, and a comprehensive slate of Conference Carolinas matchups—all meticulously crafted to test and hone the team for a postseason run.
King launches its season with a rigorous four-match road swing from August 28–29. Competition begins at Bluefield State, where the Tornado open with a neutral-site contest against Central State at 9:00 a.m., followed by a matchup with Glenville State later that day. The demanding opening weekend continues at Bluefield State, featuring matches against Clinton College and the host team—providing an immediate and revealing assessment of the squad's depth and on-court cohesion.
The home opener arrives in the form of the King Classic Invitational, scheduled for September 3–5 at the Student Center Complex. This signature event offers four matches over two days, with King facing Winston-Salem State and Newberry on September 3, then Saint Anselm College and Emory & Henry on September 5. The Invitational serves both as an early litmus test and a showcase opportunity for fans eager to witness the 2026 squad in action.
Following the Invitational, King welcomes North Greenville on September 9 before traveling to Barton on September 11. The Tornado return home to face Chowan on September 12, initiating a pivotal stretch of September fixtures that includes showdowns with Belmont Abbey, Lees-McRae, Young Harris, Southern Wesleyan, and a rematch against North Greenville.
October's schedule offers a balanced mix of home and away contests. The Tornado host Converse (October 2) and Shorter (October 3), then embark on road trips to UNC Pembroke and Francis Marion. King returns to Bristol for an October 13 matchup against Ferrum, followed by travel to Emmanuel and Young Harris. The month concludes with critical encounters against Converse, Belmont Abbey, Lees-McRae, Lee University, and Mount Olive.
The regular season culminates November 3 at Erskine, where King will seek to solidify its standing in the Conference Carolinas and sharpen its focus for postseason play.
