Indianapolis, Ia. – The King University Men's Wrestling team competed in the Greyhound Open, returning with two third-place finishers and several other top placers.
Clint Morrisette turned in a strong performance across six matches, opening the day with a technical fall at 6:03 to set the tone early. He followed with back-to-back decision victories, edging opponents 8-6 and 4-2. After suffering a setback via pin at 3:34, Morrisette rebounded with a match that ended in a no-contest, before closing his run with another gritty 4-2 decision win, securing a third-place finish at 174 pounds.
David Bertrand delivered an impressive showing, opening his day with a pin at 2:01 to grab early momentum. He followed with a dominant 12-1 major decision before grinding out a 1-0 decision in a tightly contested bout. Bertrand suffered a setback in a 9-3 decision, but responded well in his final match, earning a 7-3 decision victory to claim third place at 197 pounds.
Nathan Coley put together a steady day in the heavyweight division, opening with consecutive decision wins of 9-4 and 3-1. After dropping a 9-5 decision, he bounced back with a win via medical forfeit and capped his tournament with a clutch 3-2 tiebreaker decision, finishing fifth at 285 pounds.
Sayfore Sieh opened the tournament in impressive fashion, earning a technical fall at 5:39 in his first bout. He followed with back-to-back decision victories before suffering a pin loss. Sieh was forced to withdraw from his final two bouts due to a medical forfeit, placing sixth at 165 pounds.
Joe Bertrand battled through a competitive slate at 157 pounds, dropping a narrow 0-3 decision in his opening match. He responded with a pin at 3:49, followed by a dominant 9-0 major decision, and added a 3-1 decision victory before closing his day with a hard-fought sudden-victory loss.
