Roanoke, Va. – The King University team finishes the final day of the Bast-Cregger Invitational with more top-three finishers. Having top athletes across both the men's and women's teams, placing top in both track and field.

Men's Track and Field Team:

The Men's Track and Field team finished the second day with a standout athlete in
Lynden Johnson winning the 60-meter dash in 6.89 seconds, beating his next closest opponent by .03 seconds. Another King star,
Dominick Stevens, was in the finals running a 6.97-second 60-meter dash to earn himself fourth place.

The next track event saw two King athletes in the 400-meter, both winning their heats.
Thomas Grant earned third place overall, leading his heat from start to finish, running an opening 200-meter of 23.88 and then closing in a 27.23 to finish in 51.11.
Braylon Hammond finished fifth overall, also leading his heat start to finish, running an opening 200 meters in 23.95, then closing in a 27.92 to finish in 51.87.

On the final day of the Heptathlon, Nolan Carter and
Emanuel Rodriguez Ronda finished what they started yesterday. Carter and Rodriguez started in the 60-meter hurdles with Rodriguez leading the way for the duo in 9.09 seconds, earning second, and Carter placing third in the event in 9.22 seconds. The next event was the Pole Vault, where Rodriguez vaulted a 2.80-meter (9-02.25 ft) vault, and Carter vaulted a 2.60-meter (8-06.25 ft) vault. The final event was the 1000-meter run, with Rodriguez winning the event in a time of 3:10.57 and Carter running a time of 3:23.50. Carter finished third overall in the Heptathlon with a total score of 3671 points, and Rodriguez finished with 3240 points.

The top open field event for the Tornado was
Kenyan Booker hitting a personal best in the Long Jump, jumping a mark of 6.66 meters (21-10.25 ft), which is good enough for a Conference Carolinas qualifying mark and fifth place today.

The final event of the day for the men was the 4x400-meter relay, where the team of Grant,
Spencer Goins, Johnson, and
Bennett Simerlein ran a 3:31.92. Grant opened the first leg in 54.13 seconds, then Goins in 52.37 seconds, Johnson in 52.69 seconds, and then a closing leg of Simerlein in 52.74 seconds.

Women's Track and Field Team:

The Women's Track and Field team had a very strong day on both the track and the field.
Samaya Armstead led the way on both sides with a third-place finish in the 300-meter dash, winning her heat and a personal best in a time of 43.92 seconds. Armstead would also go on to leap a season best in the Long Jump with a distance of 4.96 meters (16-03.25 ft) to earn second overall.

Ermay Vazquez Adame showed up big in the Mile with a season best of 5:25.51 and a sixth-place finish. She started off the race in eighth place, holding this position until the third lap, where she started to pick off people until the 1209-meter mark, where she entered fifth place. She then pushed to the finish line, holding on, closing in her fastest split of 39.15 seconds for a 200-meter.

Emily Ward finished the day off for the women with a fourth-place finish in the 3000-meter run with a time of 11:06.14. She started the race off in the pack in sixth place. The chase group would fall back in the 800-meter mark, where she held fifth place till she made a move to lead her pack from the 1600-meter mark until the 2000-meter mark, where she broke off. She then chased the top group the rest of the race to finish in fourth.

The Tornado will be off next weekend, then they will split up the following weekend of February 13
th and 14
th, when they are going to the Indoor Music City Challenge and the Tryon Mid-Winter Collegiate Invitational for the final regular-season meet before Conferences.
