JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – For the second year, Visit Johnson City and King University Softball are partnering to host the Big Region Preseason Invitational presented by BurWil Construction. The collegiate softball event will take place February 7–8 at the James K. Ellis Softball Complex at Winged Deer Park.

This preseason invitational is made possible in part by the addition of the James K. Ellis Softball Complex at Winged Deer Park. The synthetic turf fields allow softball play to occur earlier in the year than ever before. This extended time to schedule sporting events on the turf ultimately increases the economic impact that Visit Johnson City and other groups can yield locally.

The event will consist of ten collegiate softball teams, both local and out-of-market, including:
• Carson-Newman University (Jefferson City, TN)
• Concord University (Athens, WV)
• Converse University (Spartanburg, SC)
• Davis & Elkins College (Elkins, WV)
• Emory & Henry University (Emory, VA)
• Glenville State University (Glenville, WV)
• King University (Bristol, TN)
• Lincoln Memorial University (Harrogate, TN)
• Mars Hill University (Mars Hill, NC)
• Tusculum University (Tusculum, TN)

Games on both Saturday, February 7, and Sunday, February 8, will begin at 10:00 AM and continue throughout the evening. Admission to the event will range between $10 and $20. For more information about the tournament, please visit bigregionpreseason.square.site.
