Bristol, Tenn.- King University Softball fans have plenty to look forward to in 2026, as the Tornado prepare for another competitive season packed with high-caliber opponents, exciting tournaments, and crucial conference battles. Here's a comprehensive look at the journey ahead for the King University Tornado softball team.
Early Season Tournaments Set the Pace
The Tornado kick off the season on Sunday, February 1, at the Valkyrie Invitational with a doubleheader, setting the tone for a busy spring. The following weekend, King heads to the Big Region Invitational (Feb. 7-8), where they'll face four tough games in rapid succession. These early tournaments are pivotal for building team chemistry and setting the foundation for conference play.
A Balanced Schedule of Home and Away Tests
King's February schedule is a blend of home and away doubleheaders, including visits to Carson-Newman (Feb. 10) and Lincoln Memorial (Feb. 18), as well as home stands hosting the King Invitational (Feb. 14-15), Emory & Henry (Feb. 21), and Mars Hill (Feb. 24). This mix gives the Tornado opportunities to prove themselves both in front of their fans and on the road.
March brings even more action, with games against Belmont Abbey (Mar. 3), UVA Wise (Mar. 6), North Greenville (Mar. 7), and Fairmont State (Mar. 9), all on home turf. The Tornado will also travel to Ferrum College (Mar. 14) and Belmont Abbey (Mar. 21), testing their road resilience.
Fierce Conference Rivalries and Key Matchups
As conference play intensifies in March and April, King faces a series of doubleheaders against Conference Carolinas rivals, including Converse, Emmanuel, Young Harris, and Mount Olive. Notable home contests include Senior Day versus Shorter University (Apr. 18), a highlight for players and fans alike, and crucial road games at Chowan and North Greenville.
The Road to Postseason Glory
The regular season builds toward the Conference Carolinas Tournament (Apr. 23-26), where the Tornado will compete for a conference crown and a berth in the NCAA Regionals (May 7-10). With every game leading up to these high-stakes tournaments, King Softball will be aiming to peak at just the right time.
