BRISTOL, Tenn. –
Nathan Borchardt hit a three-run home run Wednesday afternoon in a 12-6 nonconference loss for the King University baseball team against Carson-Newman.

KING HIGHLIGHTS
- Borchardt finished 1-for-4, with three RBI.
- Levi Medford and Joe Uribe were the only Tornado to have multiple hits, both of whom had two on the afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jacob Eargle drew a one-out walk in the bottom of the first, advancing to second when Medford singled through the left side, setting Borchardt up for his three-run home run to give the Tornado a quick lead.
- The Eagles had a leadoff home run in the top of the second, followed by a three-run second inning to take a 4-3 lead.
- King scored a pair in the third to re-take the lead, starting when Michael Starrs and Eargle started the inning with consecutive singles, before both advancing on a wild pitch.
- Medford then stepped to the plate and singled into center field, allowing Starrs to score, tying the game at four.
- A couple batters later, Uribe singled through the left side, scoring Eargle and giving the Tornado a 5-4 lead.
- Carson-Newman then scored in each of the next four innings, with King getting a run in the bottom of the sixth when Jose Ruiz hit a one-out double, advancing to third on a throwing error.
- After Patrick Corley drew a walk, Starrs hit a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Ruiz to score and making it a 10-6 game.
- The Eagles scored a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh, taking a 12-6 lead that would stand as the final score.
FOR THE FOES
- Cole Nathan was 2-for-4, with a home run and three RBI to lead the Carson-Newman offense.
- Tanner Kilgore was 3-for-4, with three runs scored and a double.
- The Eagles had four extra base hits, including doubles from Ryan Jenkins and Aiden Gibson.
