BRISTOL, Tenn. –
Levi Medford hit his second home run in as many games Wednesday afternoon as the King University baseball team earned an 8-5 nonconference win over Bluefield State.

KING HIGHLIGHTS
- Medford finished 2-for-3, with his other hit being one of four King doubles on the afternoon.
- Conner Hyatt and Joe Amunategui III both had a pair of hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hyatt started the bottom of the first with a triple to right center field, scoring when Jacob Eargle hit a sacrifice fly to center field.
- Medford led off the second with his home run, a no doubt shot to left field to extend the King lead to 2-0.
- The Big Blue tied the score at two with a two-run home run in the fourth before holding King scoreless in the bottom of the frame.
- King took the lead for good in the sixth, as Eargle started the inning with a walk before Michael Starrs doubled, putting runners on second and third.
- Nathan Borchardt then picked up an RBI on a groundout before King hit three straight doubles, topped off by Jose Ruiz hitting a triple to break the score open, 7-2.
- In the top of the seventh, Bluefield State scored three runs on three hits before Caleb Webster got a pair of strikeouts to end the inning.
- Eargle led off the bottom of the seventh with a walk, advancing when Starrs reached base on a fielder's choice, as well as a throwing error.
- Eargle scored when Medford hit a sacrifice fly, extending the Tornado lead to 8-5.
- The King bullpen was able to send the Big Blue down in order in the eighth before turning a double play in the ninth to close the game.
FOR THE FOES
- Caleb Roofe was 1-for-3, with his one hit being a two-run home run.
- The only other extra base hit for Bluefield State came from Tyson Mickie, who was 1-for-4 on the afternoon.
