ABINGDON, Va. – The King University baseball team scored six runs in the final three innings Tuesday afternoon, but narrowly dropped their nonconference game, 11-10 at Emory & Henry.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Wasps started the scoring with two home runs in the bottom of the second.
- In the third inning, Roper hit a one-out single, scoring when Starrs launched his eighth home run of the season, tying the score at two with one swing of the bat.
- Emory & Henry responded with three runs in their half of the third, with a pair of home runs.
- Starrs started the King fifth with a one-out single, advancing to second when Borchardt was hit by a pitch.
- After a failed pickoff attempt allowed both runners to advance a base, Medford hit a two-RBI single to center field, bringing the Tornado to within 5-4.
- The Wasps then scored twice in the sixth, taking a 7-4 lead.
- In the seventh inning, Borchardt drew a leadoff walk, advancing to third when Medford doubled.
- Borchardt scored when Josh Nuno singled to shortstop, with Medford scoring on a sacrifice fly by Jose Ruiz.
- The Wasps responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning before Starrs hit a two-run home run in the eighth, making it a 9-8 score.
- After Emory & Henry scored twice in the bottom of the eighth to take a 11-8 lead, Joe Amunategui III led off the ninth with a double to left field, scoring when Josh Nuno doubled to right center field.
- Pinch hitter Daniel Hicks then singled through the right side, allowing Nuno to score and making it a 11-10 game.
- Despite getting the tying run to third base, the Tornado were unable to tie the game, falling 11-10.
FOR THE FOES
- Emory & Henry had five home runs, including two from Steven Smith, with Jacob Bebber, Triston Hensley and Matt Hill also going deep.
