BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University baseball team dropped the final game of their Conference Carolinas series with Shorter Sunday, 9-4.
Nathan Borchardt was 1-for-4, with a double and an RBI for the Tornado.

KING HIGHLIGHTS
- King had six hits on the day, coming from six different players.
- Connor Haynes threw one shutout inning in relief, allowing a hit and a walk but no runs.
- Tanner Hunley got the start, recording nine strikeouts in five innings pitched.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- King didn't waste much time in getting on the board, as Truman Roper started the bottom of the first getting hit by a pitch, advancing to second on a fielding error before a Borchardt walk allowed him to reach third base.
- He scored when Daniel Hicks earned an RBI after getting hit by a pitch, putting King in front, 1-0.
- In the bottom of the second, Levi Medford was hit by a pitch with one out, eventually scoring when Jose Ruiz singled to right center field, making it a 2-0 King lead.
- Shorter scored two in the third before adding another in the fifth, taking a 3-2 lead.
- In the sixth, Hicks led off with a single, advancing to second on a single from Conner Hyatt.
- After a Patrick Corley fielder's choice, Medford picked up an RBI on a single to left field to tie the score at three.
- The Hawks then re-took the lead after scoring three runs in the top of the seventh, taking a 6-3 lead.
- The Tornado scored a run in the bottom of the seventh when Borchardt doubled down the left field line, allowing Ruiz to score after he reached base on a throwing error.
- The Hawks went on to score one in the eighth and two in the ninth, winning the game 9-4 and taking the series 2-1.
FOR THE FOES
- Will Fincher was 4-for-4, scoring three runs on the day.
- Tyler Zawacki was 2-for-5, with a double, a triple and three RBI.
- Jacob Ramirez got the win, throwing four innings, allowing one run and recording three strikeouts.
