BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University baseball team had the game-winning run at the plate Tuesday afternoon, but were unable to rally, falling 8-6 in a nonconference game to Tusculum.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tusculum got the scoring started in the third, scoring four runs.
- The Tornado responded in the bottom of the inning, starting with three straight hits to load the bases.
- Nathan Borchardt reached base on a fielder's choice, picking up an RBI as the Pioneers got the out at second base.
- After Turner Stout drew a walk, all three runners moved up a base on a wild pitch, with Jose Ruiz scoring before Nuno doubled down the left field line, scoring a pair and tying the game at four.
- Tusculum scored on an RBI double in the top of the fifth, after which Medford hit his home run with one out in the bottom of the inning, keeping the score tied.
- In the ninth, the Pioneers scored three runs, taking an 8-5 lead heading to the bottom of the inning.
- Roper started the inning with a two-out double, scoring when Stout reached base on a throwing error by the shortstop. Nuno then singled, allowing pinch runner Daniel Hicks to advance to third before a lineout to third base ended the game.

- Justin Millsaps was 4-for-5, with two RBI and three runs scored.
- Ryan Ortega, Caleb Webster, Ben Scartz and Max Schmarder all had two hits for the Pioneers.
