Truman Roper hit a walk-off single in the second game Saturday as the King University baseball team split their Conference Carolinas doubleheader with Shorter.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
- Shorter got on the board in the second on a bases loaded walk, taking a 1-0 lead.
- Starrs hit his home run in the bottom of the third, a solo shot to left field to tie the score at 1.
- After the Hawks scored again in their half of the fourth, Roper started the fifth with a single to left field, advancing to second when Starrs drew a walk.
- Borchardt then loaded the bases with a single before Joe Amunategui III hit a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Roper to score, tying the game at two.
- Shorter went on to score two in the sixth, two in the eighth and one in the ninth to take the 7-2 victory.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
- It took until the fourth for either team to score, as the Hawks used an RBI double to take a 1-0 lead.
- King responded in the fifth, as Conner Hyatt drew a leadoff walk, advancing to second on a fielding error that allowed Roper to reach base.
- After Hyatt stole third, Jose Ruiz hit a bunt single, allowing Hyatt to score and tie the game at one.
- Medford hit his home run with one out in the sixth, going deep to left center field to put King in front, 2-1.
- After the Hawks tied the score in the seventh, Hyatt drew a leadoff walk, advancing to second when Patrick Corley got a sacrifice bunt down.
- That brought Roper to the plate to win the game with an RBI single up the middle, allowing King to split the doubleheader.
