BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University baseball team fell to Emmanuel University, 8-1 Thursday afternoon in the first of a three-game Conference Carolinas series.

KING HIGHLIGHTS
- Nathan Borchardt had the lone RBI of the day for the Tornado, an RBI single in the third to score Patrick Corley.
- Corley was the only Tornado to record multiple hits, finishing 2-for-4.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a two-out sacrifice fly gave Emmanuel a 1-0 lead in the third, Corley led off the bottom with a single through the right side.
- A couple batters later, Borchardt singled to right field, with Corley scoring all the way from first base to tie the score at one.
- Borchardt would advance to second on a wild pitch, but was left at second as the next batter popped out.
- The Lions added two in the fourth, before scoring three times in the fifth to take a 6-1 lead.
- A solo home run in the sixth and an RBI single in the seventh added two more runs for Emmanuel, who were able to shut down the King offense, winning 8-1.
FOR THE FOES
- Brock Wollin had a home run, while Nick Dietsch and Dobbs Bowden both had doubles.
- Brody Campbell and Bailey Stroud both had triples.
- Barrett Barkley threw five innings, allowing one earned run as he picked up the win.
