BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University softball team earned a win over Shepherd University on Saturday afternoon. The Tornado used a home run from
Haylee Dye and complete game from
Savana Luper to top the Rams 6-3.

KING HIGHLIGHTS
- Dye laced a three-run home run in the first inning and drove in four on the day.
- Gracelyn Rice accounted for two hits on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jessica Campbell started the bottom of the first with a walk before Tinsley Thompson reach on an error.
- Dye then ripped a line drive down the left field line to give King a 3-0 lead.
- Rice ripped a one-out double in the second and later scored on a wild pitch before Campbell scored on a wild pitcher after a double to give King a 5-0 lead.
- Shepherd manufactured a run in the third with a leadoff single, stolen base and wild pitch before a groundout scored the run.
- Thompson reached on an error in the fifth and Dye followed with a triple to give King a 6-1 lead.
- The Tornado then turned a double play to end the sixth inning.
- The Rams plated a pair of runs in the seventh on a pair of hits, but Luper go the final out to give King the 6-3 win.

- Lexi Clatterbuck posted a pair of hits and scored twice.
- Lauren Moore and Alex Mantz each drove in a run.
