BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University softball team earned a pair of home wins on Sunday afternoon. King defeated Shepherd University 9-2 behind a solid outing from
Marleigh Duncan before defeating Emory & Henry College 9-6 in eight innings on a
Haylee Dye home run.

KING HIGHLIGHTS
- Alyssa Suits posted three hits, drove in two and scored three runs against Shepherd.
- Aviah Bunsic also drove in a pair in the win over Shepherd.
- In game two, Jessica Campbell recorded three hits, scored three runs and drove in three.
- Tinsley Thompson added three hits, scored twice and drove in two in game two as well.
- Dye ripped a home run and drove in three in the win over Emory & Henry.
GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS - SHEPHERD
- Duncan was masterful in the circle, allowing only one hit over seven innings in her second win of the season.
- The Tornado offense was just as impressive as an Suits double in the first inning scored a pair before she scored on a wild pitch to give King a 3-0 lead.
- King added two runs on doubles from Staley Vaught, Campbell and Thompson in the second inning to take a 5-0 lead.
- Bunsic stretched the Tornado lead to 7-0 with a two-run double to left center in the third that scored Bradlie Warner and Suits.
- King extended their lead to 9-0 on a Caitlynn Bishop fielder's choice and Vaught run-scoring single.
- After Duncan retired the side in order in the first inning, the Rams worked a walk in each of the next four innings before getting on the board in the fifth inning.
- Following the fourth walk, Lexi Clatterbuck laced a home run, Duncan's lone mistake of the day in the fifth inning.
- Duncan then retired the seven batters she faced to give King the 9-2 victory.

- Clatterbuck had the lone hit for Shepherd and drove in two.
GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS – EMORY & HENRY
- The Wasps grabbed the lead in the first inning behind a pair of Tornado defensive miscues.
- Campbell answered in the bottom half of the inning as she ripped the first pitch over the right field fence to even the score at 1-1.
- Warner and Vaught started the King half of the second inning and scored on a Campbell double.
- Campbell later scored on a Thompson groundout to give King a 4-1 lead.
- The advantage was short-lived, however, as Abigail Street laced a three-run home run in the top of the third inning to even the score at 4-4.
- Emory & Henry took a 5-4 lead in the fourth inning as the Wasps stole a run.
- King responded with home runs from Thompson and Suits in the bottom of the inning to regain the lead at 6-5.
- Emory & Henry evened the score in the sixth inning on a bases loaded single from Lydia Taylor.
- However, Hannah Fritts entered in the circle for the Tornado and induced a double play to end the threat and keep the game knotted a 6-6.
- Fritts then left Wasp runners on second and third in the seventh inning to keep the contest even.
- King was unable to score in the seven as well, sending the contest to extra innings even at 6-6.
- Fritts then worked around a two-out single to keep the game even going to the bottom of the eighth.
- Following consecutive singles from Campbell and Thompson, Dye laced a home run to left field, giving King the 9-6 victory.
