MARS HILL, N.C. – The King University Baseball team dropped a nonconference contest Wednesday afternoon, falling to Mars Hill 9-6 despite a five-run fourth inning and a home run from
Preston Steele.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mars Hill struck first, scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the first to take a 2-0 lead.
- After the Lions scored three more in the bottom of the third, the Tornado struck, plating five runs in the top of the fourth to tie the game.
- Junior Renwick started the inning with a double, starting a streak of four straight Tornado to reach base, highlighted by Derek Martin singling home a run and Wes Bonney reaching on an error, allowing another run to come across.
- A wild pitch put runners on second and third for King, who used singles from Hawkins and Steele to tie the game at five.
- Mars Hill would respond in their half of the fourth, scoring two runs to re-take the lead, 7-5.
- They would then add a run in both the fifth and sixth innings, stretching the lead to 9-5.
- Steele hit his second home run of the season in the top of the eighth, trimming Mars Hill's lead to 9-6.
- King would go down in order in the ninth to end the game.
FOR THE FOES
- Luke Hayes was 3-for-5 on the day, while Jordan Lathe and Zach Weaver both were 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI each.
- Hays also got the start on the mound, throwing two scoreless innings, while Colin McCaw threw 3.1 shutout innings, allowing four hits.
