BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University baseball team dropped the opening game of their Conference Carolinas series to Southern Wesleyan University Thursday, 6-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Warriors struck first, scoring a run in the second, fourth and sixth innings to take the 3-0 lead.
- King got on the board in the bottom of the sixth, as Steele led off with a double to center field, advancing to third on a fielding error by the center fielder.
- That set up Hyatt for a sacrifice fly, driving in Steele and bringing the Tornado to within 3-1.
- Southern Wesleyan responded in the seventh, scoring two runs on three hits to open up a 5-1 lead.
- Davis Hall led off the bottom of the eighth with a single through the left side, advancing to second on a groundout.
- After Steele singled to advance Hall to third, he scored when Renwick hit a single through the left side, which allowed Steele to advance to second and make the score 5-2.
- The inning would come to an end on a groundout back to the pitcher.
- The Warriors added a run in the top of the ninth before sending King down in order in the bottom, taking the 6-2 win.
FOR THE FOES
- Tyler Jackson was 2-for 5, with a pair of RBI. Marty Grisso and Noah Wiggins also had RBI on the afternoon, with Grisso going 2-for-4 at the plate and scoring a run.
- Steven Mufareh picked up the win, while Andrew Patterson earned his first save of the season after throwing 1.1 perfect innings.
