CHARLESTON, W.Va. –
Weston Joyner scored in the closing minutes, but it wasn't enough for the King University men's soccer team, as they dropped a nonconference contest to Salem University Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- It didn't take long for the Tigers to threaten, as they took their first shot on goal in the 2nd minute, which was steered away by Jack Hyatt.
- Hyatt picked up another save in the 12th minute to preserve the 0-0 score.
- In the 15th minute, Salem was able to find the back of the net, taking a 1-0 lead.
- The Tornado didn't get their first shot on goal until the 43rd minute, when Ben Colborn ripped a shot that was stopped by the goalkeeper, sending the match into halftime with Salem ahead 1-0.
- After a foul in the 57th minute, the Tigers took a 2-0 lead after converting the ensuing penalty kick.
- The Tornado would get a shot in the 73rd minute, as Rodrigo Mora Lopez Baca took a shot that missed left.
- The Tornado broke through in the 90th minute, as Joyner scored off a free kick, cutting the lead to 2-1.
- Shortly after the ensuing kickoff however, the final whistle blew, with Salem escaping with a 2-1 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Joyner's goal is his 5th of the season, which ties him for the team lead. His two assists is also tied for most on the team.
- Jack Hyatt made five saves, which is his 2nd-most of the season.
FOR THE FOES
- Andrea Fincato and Inout Rares Gaspar had the goals for Salem.
- Samir Doullouz picked up the lone assist.

- The Tornado are off until Sept. 27, when they resume Conference Carolinas action with a road matchup against Emmanuel.
