BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King Tornado dropped a nonconference matchup Saturday afternoon, falling to Shaw 3-0 on a warm and sunny day at Parks Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lady Bears made a statement early, as they scored in the fourth minute to take the early lead. They would add a goal in the 34 th minute off a penalty kick that resulted in a 2-0 Shaw lead.
- Shaw added a third goal late in the match, as in the 88th minute Griselda Jimenez took a rebound and sent it home to extend the lead.
- Erin Foster got the start in net for the Tornado and played the first 45 minutes, recording eight saves. Kristal Garcia entered at halftime and made six saves.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Foster and Garcia combined to make 14 saves, which is the most by the King keepers this season. For Garcia it was her second-most saves made of the season, behind her 11 saves on Sept. 7 against Tusculum.
- This was the first time this season, and the first time since April 25, 2021 that the Tornado were held without a shot on goal.
FOR THE FOES
- The Lady Bears had 18 shots on goal, and had three players who each placed three shots on goal.
- Providing goals for Shaw was Laura Tonkin, Thalta Farla and Jimenez.
- Maude Rouanet played 68 minutes in net to pick up her second win of the season.
UP NEXT
- King will be back in action Oct. 3 when they travel to Barton for a conference matchup with the Bulldogs. Kickoff is 11 a.m. in Wilson, N.C.
- Shaw now has a quick turnaround, as they will take on UNC Pembroke Monday at 7 p.m.
