Box Score BELMONT, N.C. – The King University women's soccer team qualified for the Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Championship that opened on Tuesday, but the Tornado had the task of facing one of the league's top teams, Belmont Abbey College. The second seeded Crusaders grabbed the lead early and didn't let up, topping the seventh seeded Tornado 8-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Belmont Abbey started the scoring in the fourth minute when Katelyn Richard scored the first goal following a shot that went off the crossbar.
- Morgan Patton followed with another Crusader goal in the eighth minute.
- In the 11th minute, Cierra Skyers headed in a cross from Sydney Pluhacek from the left side, giving Belmont Abbey the early 3-0 advantage.
- Patton then scored a pair of goals in the 16th minute on a penalty kick and in the 17th minute off a corner from Nicole Ferren.
- Allyson Elliott tallied a goal in the 30th minute and Chandler Arrowood added another in the 39th minute, giving the Crusaders a 7-0 lead at halftime.
- In the half, King registered seven shots, placing three on frame.
- King took a pair of shots in the early going of the second half, but neither were on frame.
- Nicole Ferren made it an 8-0 Belmont Abbey lead with a goal in the 79th minute.
- Bailey Torrez ripped a shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but it was turned away as the Crusaders took the contest 8-0.
- The Tornado took 12 shots in the contest, placing five on goal.
- Two of the shots on frame came from Kendyl Baird.
- Nicole Dagher made five saves, Olivia Drake and Lauren Cox made two saves each.
FOR THE FOES
- The Crusaders took 29 shots and placed 17 on goal.
- Belmont Abbey moves on to the Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Championship semifinals on Friday.
