Teach was a four-year starting goalkeeper at King College, where he led the Tornado to an 18-2 mark and an NAIA National Tournament berth in 1984. In the same year, Teach earned All-America honors. He received his Bachelor's degree in Political Science/ History from King in 1986.

Teach was also a coach at King College and had been named Conference Coach of the Year nine times. He has also received NAIA Region XII Coach of the Year and NAIA South Region Coach of the Year on four occasions, wihle earning NSCAA Southeast Region Coach of the Year honors in 2008 and NAIA National Coach of the Year accolades in 2000. He was inducted into the King Hall of Fame in the spring of 2008.
