King places 5th at conference championship

CONCORD, N.C. – The King University women's cross country team competed at the Conference Carolinas Championship and came away with a fifth place finish. The Tornado were led by Hannah Kusmierz who finished seventh overall.

LOCATION: Frank Liske Park; Concord, N.C.
DISTANCE: 6k

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Running the 6k distance with a time of 24:01.6, Kusmierz took seventh place for the Tornado.
  • Next to cross the finish line was Kaitlin Rivera with a time of 25:28.9. Not far behind her was Abbi Pierce who put up a time of 25:42.7.
  • Audrey McCormick finished with a time of 27:08.1 while teammate Kirstin Barton recorded a time of 27:52.6 for the Tornado.
  • Emily Sutherland rounded out the squad with a time of 29:21.9

FOR THE FOES

  • The University of Mount Olive won the conference championship, placing six runners in the top 10.
  • Mount Olive's Leah Hanle took the individual title posting a time of 22:52.9. Teammate Celine Ritter finished second.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Kusmierz earns second team all-conference honors as she places seventh overall. She also set a new 6k personal record with her time of 24:01.6.
  • Barton set a new 6k personal record with her time of 27:52.6.

  • King heads to Wingate, N.C. for the NCAA Southeast Regional on November 5th.
