Tornado take 8th at Conference Carolinas Championship

CONCORD, N.C. – The King University women's cross country team competed at the Conference Carolinas Championship and came away with an eighth place finish. The Tornado were led by Kaitlin Rivera who finished 13th.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Running the 6k distance for the first time in her career, Rivera finished in 24:34.80 to take 13th place.
  • Kayce Byrnside came in next, finishing in 26:06.00 and Abbi Pierce finished in 26:34.51.
  • Coming in next for the Tornado was Sarah Minchey who finished in 27:42.65.
  • Kirstin Barton wasn't far behind, finishing in 28:07.46.
  • Maggie Edwards rounded out the team, finishing in 29:27.88.

FOR THE FOES

  • The University of Mount Olive won the conference championship, placing three runners in the top 10.
  • Limestone College finished second and North Greenville University took third.
  • Leah Hanle of Mount Olive took home the individual title with a time of 22:29.87.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • With her finish, Rivera earns third team all-conference.

  • King will be in action again on November 5 at the NCAA Southeast Regional in Montevallo, Ala.
