SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The King University women's cross country team opened their season at the Eye Opener Invitational on Friday evening. The Tornado faced off against stiff NCAA Division I competition.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Freshman Kaitlin Rivera was the first tornado to cross the finish line with a time of 20:51.23.
  • Kayce Byrnside wasn't far behind with a time of 21:02.98.
  • Junior Abbi Pierce posted a time of 21:18.30 for the season opener.
  • Sarah Minchey finished the team putting up a 22:40.03 time.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Byrnside set a personal record breaking her previous record of 20:42.5
  • Minchey also set a personal record shattering her previous record of 22:53.0
