GREENVILLE, S.C. - King College's Carrie Nelson received the NCCAA Women's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week from the national office.
Nelson (Independence, Va.) led the Lady Tornado to the program's first NCAA Division II National Championship appearance with a team second-place finish at the NCAA Southeast Region Championship on Nov. 20. She finished eighth at the event to also earn All-Region honors. Nelson needed 22 minutes and 12.4 seconds to cover the 6,000-meter layout.
King will run the NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championship on Saturday in Louisville, Ky. The event starts at noon at the E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park.
She is the first Lady Tornado to win the weekly award this season.
