CLEVELAND, Ohio - King College placed three wrestlers in the Top-7 which included two third-place performances at the 2011 ASICS U.S. Open over the weekend.
Alli Ragan (Carbondale, Ill.) pinned Army's Othella Lucas 1:29 into the second period for third place in the 63-kilogram bracket. Ragan came into the event as the No. 3 wrestler in the weight class and defeated No. 4 Vanessa Oswalt. Ragan lost to the top-ranked wrestler Elena Pirozhkova in the opening round 3-0 and 3-1. To get to the third-place bout Ragan pinned No. 2 Veronica Carlson in 1:58.
Emily Martin (Frisco, Texas) used a 3-2 decision over Lindenwood (Mo.) University's Ashley Shannon to capture third at 51-kilograms. Martin had a 1-0 third period in the meeting. She also had a win over the No. 3 wrestler in the weight class Gabrielle Henry.
Lisa Martinez (Amarillo, Texas) won seventh over Air Force's Rachel Bernardes with a pin 68 seconds into the second period in the 48-kilogram division. Along the way Martinez defeated No. 8 Candace Workman during the wrestleback bracket.
Stacy Martin (Frisco, Texas) lost her seventh-place match at 51-kilograms 7-0 to Carlene Sluberski.
The trio of Top-7 finishers will be a part of the World Team Trials in June thanks to the results.
