King lands at No. 3 in WCWA Team Rankings

BRISTOL, Tenn. - King College moved up to No. 3 in the newest WCWA Women's College Team rankings, announced by the organization.

King has used a strong start to move into the top trio. Atop the ranking was perennial national power and two-time defending national champion Oklahoma City University. Simon Fraser University was placed at No. 2.

The University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) and Jamestown (N.D.) College were fourth and fifth, respectively.

"This is a good checkpoint for us so far," King head coach Jason Moorman said. "However, no question this team is not satisfied with staying at third. These young ladies certainly are not afraid of hard work, and are putting the time in to continue to improve."

So far in the 2010-11 season King has posted an 8-3 dual match record with the only setbacks coming against lineups from Oklahoma City. The team also traveled to the NYAC Open and Missouri Valley Open in November.

The Lady Tornado squad ended the 2010 portion of the schedule with a second-place finish at the Cumberlands Duals Saturday. King picked up wins over Cumberlands 29-19 and Missouri Baptist University 33-11. The Lady Tornado was overtaken by Oklahoma City 32-10 in the championship meeting, but the 10 points scored was the most against Oklahoma City in 13 dual matches this season.

Next on the schedule for King will be a rematch against Oklahoma City on Jan. 15 in Bristol. No. 6 Missouri Valley will also be a part of the wrestling action that day.
