Lady Tornado Wrestling adds two to squad

BRISTOL, Tenn. - King College head women's wrestling coach Jason Moorman has announced the addition of Lorrie-Ann Ramos and Julia Salata to the roster for the 2011-12 season.

Ramos, an Orlando, Fla., native comes as a 67 and 72 kilogram wrestler. She was a three-time Florida state champion at 140, 145 and 152 pounds. Ramos added a 2010 Folkstyle national crown at 153 pounds with a silver medal at the 2009 Southeast Regional. The two-time junior freestyle All-American will graduate from Cypress Creek High.

Salata comes to King from Canton High in Canton, Mich., where she will join the 67-kilogram wrestlers. She was a 2010 junior national champion and a youth Olympic Games Pan American Qualifier runner-up. Salata posted a third-place finish at the 2010 USAW Folkstyle Nationals. She was also a 2010 Youth Olympic Games United States qualifier champion. In 2009 she was a junior national champion and finished fourth in the Canada Cup. A runner-up performance also came at the 2009 Body Bar FILA Cadet National event.

"We are excited about having both Lorrie and Julia join our program next year," Moorman said. "We feel their success and hard work ethic will have an immediate impact on our program next year."

King finished fourth at the 2011 Women's College Wrestling Association Championship with seven All-Americans including national champion Marina Lambert.
