Beckner, Humphreys named academic All-Conference Carolinas

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Championship gets underway on Tuesday night, and the league has announced their academic all-conference honorees. King University had two student-athletes recognized, Ashton Beckner and Reghan Humphreys.

Beckner, a senior carries a 3.65 while majoring in athletic training. The Kingsport, Tenn., native has had a stellar season, ranking fourth in Conference Carolinas with 53 blocks assists. She ranks eighth in the league with 66 total blocks and 11th with an average of 0.68 blocks per set. Offensively in the middle she accounted for 226 kills for an average of 2.33 kills per set. Beckner is also hitting .244 on the season, a mark that is 11th in the league.

Reghan Humphreys, a junior is also majoring in athletic training and carries a 3.60 GPA. Humphreys has appeared in two matches for the Tornado.

King opens the Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Championship as the third seed in the north division and will travel to Southern Wesleyan University, the south division second seed on Tuesday night. First serve from Central, S.C. is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Conference Carolinas academic all-conference teams are comprised of junior and senior student-athletes who have competed in a conference-sponsored sport and maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale in all work completed at their member institution.
