BRISTOL, Tenn. – Haley Roe had a stellar week, leading the King University women's volleyball to a 2-1 record a week ago. The sophomore also garnered some individual accolades, being named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Women's Volleyball Player of the Week.
The Bluff City, Tenn., native posted three double-doubles in three matches last week, starting with 47 assists and 12 digs in a 3-2 win over Lees-McRae College. Roe followed that with 44 assists and a career-high 18 digs against Southern Wesleyan University. She capped the week by matching a career-high with 52 assists and added 11 digs against North Greenville University. It marked her second career 50-plus assist match and her team-leading fifth double-double of the season.
Roe leads Conference Carolinas with 10.09 assists per set and ranks fourth with 474 total assists. This marks the first time she has been named TSWA Player of the Week.
The Tornado are in action again on Saturday when they travel to take on rival Lees-McRae College. First serve from Banner Elk, N.C. is slated for 2:00 p.m.
