BRISTOL, Tenn. – Cathy Scaniffe helped lead the King University women's volleyball team to three Conference Carolinas victories last week, and she was rewarded on Tuesday when she was named Tennessee Sports Writers Association Player of the Week. The highlight of her week was her first career double-double in a 3-2 victory over Limestone College.
Scaniffe had a career week, starting with a career-high 15 kills in a sweep of Belmont Abbey College on Tuesday where she hit .462 in the contest. Her best match of the week came on Friday night when she posted her first career double-double in a 3-2 win over Limestone. The Lorton, Va., native recorded a career-best 23 kills and added a career-high 10 digs.
She capped the week with 12 kills and career-highs of six service aces and three blocks in a win over Converse. For the week she led King with 50 kills, averaging 4.17 per set and hit .269 from her outside hitter position. This marks the first career TSWA weekly award Scaniffe has won.
The Tornado are in action again when they host Pfeiffer University in a Conference Carolinas tilt at 7:00 p.m. in the Student Center Complex.
