BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University's Summer Kremer garnered Player of the Week honors from the Tennessee Sportswriters Association for the third time this season after recording 40 kills in three matches for the Tornado.
The Mills River, N.C., native started the week with 11 kills and five digs in King's 3-0 win over Converse College in the quarterfinals of the Conference Carolinas Tournament. The junior posted 14 kills to go along with 11 digs for her second double-double of the season in a semifinal win against Limestone College before registering a team-high 15 kills in the finals versus Belmont Abbey College.
Kremer helped lead the Tornado to their first Conference Carolinas regular season championship and their first Conference Carolinas Tournament championship match appearance. She ends the season ranked second in the league with 399 kills, averaging 3.38 kills per set.
The Tornado finished with a 32-5 overall record, marking the first time since 2010 King has won at least 32 matches in a season. The conference championship was also the 18th in King's history as they went 17-1 in Conference Carolinas play.
