Conference Carolinas names Kremer Player of the Week

BRISTOL, Tenn. – For the second time today, King University women's volleyball player Summer Kremer has won a weekly award. She has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Player of the Week during week number three of the 2013 season.

Kremer led the Tornado to a 3-0 week and 2-0 start in Conference Carolinas play. Her best match of the week may have come against Belmont Abbey where she led the Tornado with 20 kills on 46 attempts, committing only five errors for an attack percentage of .326. The junior posted six kills in each the first and fourth sets to give King the 3-1 win over the Crusaders. Kremer also added three blocks and eight digs in the victory.

She followed that performance by hitting .500 in King's 3-0 over Pfeiffer on Saturday, registering a team-high 13 kills on 22 attempts while committing just two errors. The Mill City, N.C., native started the week with a 14-kill performance in a 3-2 Tornado victory at UVa-Wise.

In three matches last week, Kremer posted a 3.92 kills per set average, and attack percentage of .300. So far this season, Kremer leads Conference Carolinas with 142 total kills, and an average of 3.23 kills per set.

The Tornado are return to action tonight against nonconference foe Concord University. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. King then travels for their first road conference matches at Erskine College on Friday night and North Greenville University on Saturday. The Tornado will also face Clark Atlanta University on Saturday at North Greenville.
