With the Tornado short-handed for hitters, Pittman took over and led her team to three victories against Conference Carolinas top competition. The Norris, Tenn. native twice set new season highs in kills, first doing so against Pfeiffer (23) before eclipsing that total against Queens (27), who had been previously unbeaten in league play. In two of those three matches she had hit better than .300 and on Friday (Sept. 30) against Pfeiffer she committed only two errors in 42 attack attempts. In addition to setting new personal highs in kills on Saturday, she also contributed toward a five-set win with two assists, five digs and two blocks.
King is 11-8 overall and 5-1 in Conference Carolinas play this season. The Lady Tornado will complete the second half of a six-match road trip against Erskine (Oct. 5), Limestone (Oct. 8) and Lees-McRae (Oct. 11) before returning to the Student Center Complex in a match against Coker on Oct. 14.
