King maintains ranks in NCAA Volleyball report

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - King College maintained three individual Top-50 stat rankings in this week's NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball report, released by the national office as two Lady Tornado are in the Top-10.

Kaitlyn Musick (Weber City, Va.) jumped up to No. 2 nationally with her .487 hitting percentage, a five-spot climb as the hitting percentage rose from .459 a week earlier. California State San Bernardino's Samantha Middleborn leads the country with a hitting percentage of .598.

Kelsey Griffitts (Bristol, Va.) went from No. 21 up to No. 10 thanks to her hitting percentage of .431. Her percentage went up from .403 a week ago.

Shannon Earwood (Carson City, Nev.) remained on the assists per set list and climbed to No. 38, up three spots. Her assists per set averaged remained at 10.03. Southwest Minnesota State's Cara Carson and her 12.28 assists per set leads the Division II ranks.

The Lady Tornado as a team ranked No. 12 in winning percentage at .900 with a 9-1 record after play last week. Seven teams across the country remain undefeated. King's hitting percentage climbed to .271 which provided a three-spot climb to No. 17 this week. King's 16.75 digs per set ranked 34th this week, down from No. 23 in the previous report.

King welcomes cross-town rival Virginia Intermont College to the Student Center Complex for a 6:30 p.m. contest Thursday. The Lady Tornado will enter the match with a 9-2 record after a marathon 3-2 loss Tuesday against Tusculum (Tenn.) College.
