Lady Tornado Volleyball among NCAA's bests

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - King College made a splash on the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball stat report this week with three individual Top-50 rankings including a Top-10 performance, the organization announced.

Kaitlyn Musick (Weber City, Va.) ranks No. 7 nationally with a hitting percentage of .459 with 90 kills and just 11 errors in 172 total attempts. Of the players in the Top-10 Musick had the most kills and only four players in the Top-30 had more kills than her 90 so far in 2010. Musick was joined on the hitting percentage report by Kelsey Griffitts (Bristol, Va.) at No. 21 with a percentage at .403. She totaled 61 kills and 11 errors in 124 attempts.

Shannon Earwood (Carson City, Nev.) also made the assist list with 10.03 assist per set which ranked No. 41 nationally among NCAA Division II players.

In the team categories, King's .889 winning percentage was tied for No. 16 as 15 schools were undefeated at the time of the report. The Lady Tornado also ranked No. 20 in hitting percentage with a team average of .264, just .008 away from the Top-15. King was No. 23 in digs per set with an average of 17.0.

The Lady Tornado, now at 9-1 with a six-match winning streak, will welcome Tusculum (Tenn.) College to Bristol on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. meeting.
