INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - King College maintained four individual NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Top-50 stat ranking in the newest report, released by the organization. The Lady Tornado squad added two team Top-50 rankings as well.
Kaitlyn Musick (Weber City, Va.) climbed up to No. 9 in hitting percentage, a two spot climb from a week ago thanks to her .395 hitting percentage. Freshman Kelsey Griffitts (Bristol, Va.) slipped to No. 49 with a .339 hitting percentage in this week's report.
Morgan Machen (Kingsport, Tenn.) went up a spot another week to No. 44 in kills per set with a 3.57 mark.
Shannon Earwood (Carson City, Nev.) used a 10.12 assists per set for a five-spot climb to No. 41.
New for the Lady Tornado this week were the hitting percentage and kills per set Top-50 rankings. King and a .256 team hitting percentage landed at No. 17 nationally among NCAA Division II squads. A 13.06 kills per set gave King a No. 50 ranking.
King moved up two spots in both aces per set and winning percentage as both were No. 32. The Lady Tornado served 2.01 aces per set and the team has a .771 winning percentage.
The Lady Tornado ended the regular season Tuesday with a 3-0 win at Brevard giving King a 27-8 record. King will host the 2010 NCCAA Mid-East Region Tournament Friday and Saturday in the Student Center. The Lady Tornado has Asbury (Ky.) University and Tennessee Temple University scheduled for Friday's pool play. King's Tennessee Temple contest starts the event at 9 a.m. and the Lady Tornado wrap up pool play with Asbury at 5 p.m. Semifinals and the championship will be contested Saturday with an automatic bid to the 2010 NCCAA Division I National Tournament on the line for the winner.
