GREENVILLE, S.C. - King College climbed a spot to No. 7 in the final regular season NCCAA Division I Volleyball Burbridge Rating, the organization announced.
A week ago King was No. 8. This week's Burbridge was 5.676, down from a 5.679 last week, but the Lady Tornado jumped up in the ranking. The Lady Tornado's record was 26-8 for the report after going 4-0 last week. King wrapped up the regular season Tuesday with a win at Brevard giving the squad a 27-8 mark going into the NCCAA post season.
Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) University held onto the No. 1 spot. Trinity Christian (Ill.) College climbed over Malone (Ohio) University for the No. 2 ranking. Campbellsville (Ky.) University was a spot better at No. 4, knocking Indiana Wesleyan University down to No. 5.
Asbury (Ky.) University maintained the No. 6 spot with King No. 7. Geneva (Pa.) College was No. 8 followed by Palm Beach Atlantic (Fla.) University and Trinity International (Ill.) University.
The Mid-East Region put three teams in the Top-7, King, Campbellsville and Asbury. The East Region had Mount Vernon, Malone and Geneva in the Top-10. Trinity Christian and Trinity International came out of the North Central Region. Indiana Wesleyan represented the Mid-West and Palm Beach Atlantic from the South.
King will host the NCCAA Mid-East Region Tournament Nov. 19-20 inside the Student Center. The winner earns an automatic bid to the NCCAA Division I National Tournament Dec. 2-4 in Kissimmee, Fla.
Along with the trio of region teams in the Top-7, the Mid-East placed Oakland City (Ind.) University at No. 26 and Covenant (Ga.) College at No. 28.
