GREENVILLE S.C. - King College put five players on the 2010 NCCAA Women's Volleyball Scholar-Athlete Team, the national office announced.
The five Lady Tornado players are the second most from any school on the list this season. Only Palm Beach Atlantic (Fla.) University had more, just one more than King.
On the NCCAA Scholar-Athletes list was Rachel Harding (Abingdon, Va.), Kaitlyn Musick (Weber City, Va.), Morgan Machen (Kingsport, Tenn.), Amber Jones (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Ashley Pittman (Norris, Tenn.).
Harding, Musick, Machen and Jones were on the same list last season.
In all 55 players from 21 teams were honored by the NCCAA for the work in the classrooms.
Overall King went 32-11 in 2010, the third 30-plus win season since 2006. The Lady Tornado also reached the NCCAA National Tournament for a second straight season after playing for the NCCAA Mid-East Region Championship.
