BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Conference Carolinas Indoor Track and Field Championships are scheduled to take place on Sunday at JDL FastTrack in Winston-Salem, N.C., and the league announced their academic all-conference teams. Three Tornado men and three women were named to the list this season.
Conference Carolinas' Academic All-Conference teams are comprised of junior and senior student-athletes who have competed in a conference-sponsored sport and maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale in all work completed at their member institution. The GPA is calculated based on the student-athlete's cumulative average through the previous semester and each student-athlete must have attended their member institution for at least one academic year.
Tanner Cook carries a GPA of 3.54 and set a 3,000 meter personal record earlier this year, running 8:49.75 at the Buccaneer Invitational. Charles Ramos has a 3.31 GPA and Morgan Greene was the final Tornado on the men's side to be named to the list with a GPA of 4.0. Ramos posted his fastest mile time of the season at the Wake Forest Invitational with a time of 4:48.68. His fastest 3,000 meter time of 9:16.57 came at the Buccaneer Invitational.
On the women's side, Lindsey Burnett has set three personal records this season and carries a GPA of 3.66. She set a 60 meter personal best with a time of 8.63 seconds at the ETSU Invitational and posted 200 meter and long jump bests at the Buccaneer Invitational. She covered the 200 meter distance in 27.84 seconds and posted a long jump of 5.15 meters, her first leap of more than 5.00 meters.
Bree Cassidy carries a GPA of 3.26, and posted her fastest 60 meter time of 8.90 seconds at the ETSU Invitational. Maggie Edwards rounds out the group with a 3.74 GPA. She clocked her fastest 800 meter time of 2:41.89 at the ETSU Invitational and her fastest mile time of 6:21.74 came at the Wake Forest Invitational.
