King places 11 student-athletes on the USTFCCCA All-Region team


2013 USTFCCCA All-Region Selections

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced their All-Region track and field teams on Friday, and 11 King University student-athletes were recognized. Six members of the men's track and field team were named All-Southeast Region while five women earned the same distinction.

On the men's side, the 4x400 meter relay team of Alson EdgecombeJustin NewringJordan Tippens and Reggie Warren were named All-Southeast Region. They were joined by Spencer Frantom in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters and Jordan Noe in the 3,000 meter steeple chase. Newring also earned All-Region honors in the 200 meters.

Maegan Henry and Hannah Witt led the Tornado women, each earning All-Southeast Region honors in two events. Henry earned the distinction in both the shot put and the hammer throw while Witt was named All-Southeast Region in both the 5,000 and 10,000 meters. Danielle Beauvais earned the honor in the 3,000 meter steeplechase while Lanneickia Brewton earned the same honor in the long jump. Atlanta Westbrook rounded out the group, being named All-Region in the triple jump.

"King track and field accomplished so much this year at the conference level and having so many athletes named to the prestigious NCAA All-Region team, is an indicator of where the program is heading," said coach Peter Dalton.

The top five from each region in individual events, and every member of a relay team that ranked in the region's top-three earned the All-Region distinction. On the women's side, 613 different student-athletes earned All-Region honors, and 670 on the men's side.
