CULLOWHEE, N.C. – In the second day of the Beynon Sports Catamount Classic, hosted by Western Carolina University, the King University women's track and field team came home with numerous new personal bests. As a team, the Tornado finished 7th of 16 teams with 33 points at the event.
Hannah Witt set a pair of personal records, first with a time of 2:30.82 in the 800 meters, and again in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:57.40. Eliza Park also set personal bests in both the 800 and 1,500. She clocked a time of 2:28.39 in the 800 and 5:05.17 in the 1,500. Also competing in the 1,500 was Tabby Arwood who ran a personal-best time of 5:23.27.
Danielle Beauvais set a season-best time of 18:52.29 in the 5,000 meter run, finished it third place. Atlanta Westbrook covered the 200 meter distance in 26.27 seconds, to set a new personal record while Callie Todt placed seventh in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.51.
In the throwing events, Maegan Henry finished second in the shot put with a new personal record toss of 12.54 meters. She also placed ninth in the hammer throw with a toss of 35.85 meters. Kayla Gash and Taylor Rasmussen both set personal records in the hammer throw with tosses of 26.88 and 31.10, respectively.
The Tornado will be in action again next weekend at the Raleigh Relays. The event starts on Friday, and concludes on Saturday.
