NEW ORLEANS, La. - The King College women's track and field team took the top spot in the newest United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association Southeast Region ranking, the organization announced. The Tornado team landed at No. 5.
The Lady Tornado obtained 392.93 points for the No. 1 spot, ahead of Limestone (S.C.) College, the former No. 1 squad. Anderson (S.C.) College was third followed by Lees-McRae (N.C.) College. Queens (N.C.) University of Charlotte was No. 5.
On the men's side King totaled 241.30 points, just behind Anderson. Lees-McRae was atop the region ranking with Limestone next. Queens occupied the No. 3 ranking.
King wrapped up the indoor season on Saturday when the women took fourth at the NCCAA National Championship and the men were seventh.
The outdoor season for the Tornado and Lady Tornado squads will begin on March 17-18 with the 49er Classic in Charlotte, N.C.
