Tornado fall at Erskine in league opener

DUE WEST, S.C. – The King University women's tennis team opened Conference Carolinas play on Thursday at perennial league power Erskine College. The Tornado fell behind as Erskine took the dual 9-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Flying Fleet grabbed the lead by taking all three doubles matches. The Tornado duo of Haley Maloney and Alyssa Salazar fell to Katie Loudermilk and Rebecca Weaver 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.
  • Salazar played a tough match at No. 5 singles, falling to Marie Berghaus 7-6, 6-1 at the fifth flight.
  • At No. 2 singles, Mollie Polk topped Ashley Salazar 6-2, 6-2.

UP NEXT

  • King will be in action again on March 9 when they travel to Limestone College. The Conference Carolinas dual is slated for 11:00 a.m.
  • Erskine takes on Francis Marion University on Saturday.
