King falls at Carson-Newman

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – A day after the King University women's tennis team clinched a Conference Carolinas Tournament berth, the Tornado jumped out of conference to take on Carson-Newman University. The homestanding Eagles took the dual 8-1.

Carson-Newman (10-13) gained the early advantage by winning all three doubles matches. The Eagle duo of Stefy Stand and Haleigh Chastain took the No. 1 doubles match 8-2, while their No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams took 8-1 and 8-4 wins, respectively.

In singles play, Mariana Hosomi got the Tornado (8-14) on the board with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Jennifer Ott at No. 3 singles. However, that was all King would get as the Eagles closed out the win by taking the other five singles matches.

King will be in action again on Saturday when the host Southern Wesleyan University at 1:00 p.m.
