King falls to Lenoir-Rhyne 8-1

HICKORY, N.C. – The King University women's tennis team traveled to Hickory, N.C. on Saturday afternoon, falling 8-1 to Lenoir-Rhyne University in a nonconference match.

The Tornado (7-12) got its lone win of the match from Mariana Hosomi at No. 3 singles. Hosomi defeated Lenoir-Rhyne's (9-14) Lacey Lapp 6-3, 7-5 to notch her seventh singles victory of the season.

King nearly got a win at No. 3 doubles from its duo of Claudia Morris and Haley Maloney as the pair fell 9-8 (7-5). Hosomi and Naomi Reyes also played well at the second flight but ultimately fell 8-6.

The Tornado will play its third match in as many days on Sunday as the team travels to Newberry College. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
