BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's tennis team snapped a two-match losing skid on Tuesday, defeating Conference Carolinas foe Lees-McRae College 5-4 in its first competition in 10 days.
The Tornado (7-8, 2-3 Conference Carolinas) opened play by winning two of three doubles matches. No. 1 doubles was the lone casualty for King, as Mariana Hosomi and Naomi Reyes scored an 8-3 victory at the second flight. Claudia Morris and Haley Moloney won their No. 3 doubles match by an identical score.
King picked up wins in half of its six singles matches to claim the overall victory. Mariana Hosomi took a 6-2, 6-4 victory at the third flight, while Alyssa Salazar claimed a 6-1, 6-1 decision at No. 4 singles. Haley Moloney defeated her Bobcat counterpart 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6.
The Tornado also suffered a pair of losses in tight matches.
