TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The King University women's tennis team tried to rebound from their loss yesterday as they traveled to North Greenville University. The Crusaders took pair of doubles matches before clinching the 6-3 win in singles play.
The duo of Mariana Hosomi and Naomi Reyes got the Tornado (4-6, 0-2 CC) on the board when they topped Aline Ribeiro and Christina Kiessling 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. However, the Crusaders (1-8, 1-1 CC) took the other two doubles matches, including a tight 9-8 (7-5) victory at No. 3 doubles.
Hosomi then took a win at No. 3 singles, defeating Maggie Elliott 6-2, 6-7 (4-7), 6-3. Haley Maloney was victorious at No. 6 singles defeating Haley Hardwick in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2. However, it wasn't enough as the Crusaders took the other singles matches to win the dual 6-3.
King will be in action at home again this weekend when they host Belmont Abbey College on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The Tornado then host Bluefield State College on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
