SUMTER, S.C. – Naomi Reyes was the only member of the King University women's tennis team to compete in the ITA Southeast Regional this weekend. The sophomore dropped her first match of the weekend, but followed that with back-to-back wins to reach the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket in the B Draw.
Reyes fell to Newberry College's Vanessa Ortiz 6-2, 6-1 to open the weekend, and drop her to the consolation bracket. She then topped Coker College's Kyria Borelli 6-0, 6-0 and outlasted Natalie Stirewalt of Francis Marion University 3-6, 6-3, 10-5 to advance to the quarterfinals. However, that is where her weekend came to an end on Sunday as she fell to Lindsay Gregory of Anderson College 6-3, 6-1.
King will play their first dual match of the season on Friday when they travel to Bluefield State College. The match is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
