Tornado tennis teams earn ITA Academic Awards
BRISTOL, Tenn. – Both the men’s and women’s tennis teams earned the ITA All-Academic award for the third straight season when the organization announced their awards earlier this week. Along with both teams earning the distinction, 10 student-athletes between the two teams earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status.

King takes a pair of Conference Carolinas sportsmanship awards
BRISTOL, Tenn. – At the conclusion of each season, Conference Carolinas hands out the Messick Sportsmanship Awards for each sport, and King University earned a pair of these honors during the spring season. The Tornado baseball and women’s tennis teams both won the award for the 2013-14 season, marking the second and third King teams to earn the distinction this year.

King falls to Pfeiffer in Conference Carolinas Tournament
SUMTER, S.C. – The King University women’s tennis team qualified for the Conference Carolinas Tournament for the first time in history this season, and faced second seeded Pfeiffer University in the quarterfinals on Friday morning. The seventh seeded Tornado dropped the dual 5-0, ending their season.

King sweeps Southern Wesleyan in regular season finale
BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women’s tennis team closed the regular season in style on Saturday when they hosted Southern Wesleyan University. The Tornado defeated the Warriors 9-0 for their first clean sweep since March 1, and third sweep of the season.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – A day after the King University women’s tennis team clinched a Conference Carolinas Tournament berth, the Tornado jumped out of conference to take on Carson-Newman University. The homestanding Eagles took the dual 8-1.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Going into their final dual match of the Conference Carolinas season, the King University women’s tennis team knew their goal was simple, win to earn a spot in the league tournament. The Tornado set the tone early, winning all three doubles matches en route to the 6-3 victory at Converse College.

NEWBERRY, S.C. –Playing their third match in as many days, and second straight day on the road, the King University women’s tennis team ran out of gas on Sunday at Newberry College. The Wolves took the nonconference dual from the Tornado 9-0.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The tennis season is coming to an end, which means Conference Carolinas has begun handing out postseason awards. On Tuesday, five Tornado student-athletes were name academic all-conference by the league.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men’s and women’s tennis teams were scheduled to face Barton College on Friday, but those matches have been postponed. The teams will now square off on April 11 at 1:00 p.m., on the King University campus.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – With rain in the forecast, the King University men's and women's tennis duals this weekend have been postponed. The women's tennis match that was scheduled for Friday has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 15 at 3:30 p.m. Both the men's and women's duals against Limestone College on Saturday have been postponed and rescheduled for Tuesday, April 1 at 12:00 p.m.

Softball’s Chrissy Melcher and Mariana Hosomi and Rodrigo Avila of the Tornado tennis teams were named Conference Carolinas Players of the Week for the week ending Monday, March 3.

BRSITOL, Tenn. – The King University women’s tennis team had a full day of tennis on Friday as they traveled to take on NCAA Division I East Tennessee State University and Lincoln Memorial University. The Tornado dropped the early match to ETSU 7-0, but rebounded for a tight 5-4 win over Lincoln Memorial in the afternoon.

Reyes reaches consolation quarters at ITA Regional
SUMTER, S.C. – Naomi Reyes was the only member of the King University women’s tennis team to compete in the ITA Southeast Regional this weekend. The sophomore dropped her first match of the weekend, but followed that with back-to-back wins to reach the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket in the B Draw.

Hosomi, Reyes take first title in King tennis history
SUMTER, S.C. – Over the weekend, the King University women’s tennis team returned to action with a new look to their team as they returned just two players from a season ago, and those two players made King history. At the Palmetto Tennis Center Individual Tournament, the doubles team of Mariana Hosomi and Naomi Reyes won the C Draw of the event to take home the first title in King tennis history.
