Tornado fall to Lees-McRae 6-3
BANNER ELK, N.C. – The King University women's tennis team traveled to Lees-McRae College on Tuesday for Conference Carolinas matchup. The Tornado took one doubles match, and two singles matches, but the Bobcats took the duel match 6-3.
In doubles play, Karissa King and Amanda Huffaker topped Taylor Bost and Stevie Harell 8-6 at No. 2 doubles. Naomi Reyes and Mariana Hosomi narrowly fell at No. 1 doubles 8-5, while the No. 3 doubles match went to Lees-McRae (1-11, 1-6 CC) by default.
Reyes started singles play with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Samantha Wohlers to even the duel match at 2-2. Huffaker then defeated Stevie Harrell 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles, but that was that last victory the Tornado (0-12, 0-6 CC) would get. The Bobcats took wins by default at No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 singles, and Hilary Lutz defeated Hosomi 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.
The Tornado will be in action again this weekend when they host Barton College on Friday and Limestone College on Saturday.
